FINANCIAL DISTRICT — A bit of Hollywood is coming to Wall Street.
George Clooney’s latest movie, “Money Monster” — in which he plays a CNBC-like TV personality who spouts stock tips — will be shooting in the Financial District starting April 8.
The movie, which co-stars Julia Roberts as Clooney’s character’s TV producer, will film in several spots Downtown, including on Nassau, Liberty and Wall streets, said Joe Guest, a location manager for the film.
One scene will be shot in front of Federal Hall, where the filmmakers will be “depicting an NYPD response to an emergency,” Guest told a Community Board 1 Financial District committee meeting Wednesday night.
The film, directed by Jodi Foster, centers on Clooney’s character being taken hostage during his live “Money Monster” show by a disgruntled viewer who lost all his money after following Clooney’s financial advice.
Guest said local businesses and residents would be notified before some of the more intense scenes involving police are filmed.
The movie is scheduled to film for about 15 days, on Wednesdays through Sundays, with no night filming.
To benefit the neighborhood, Guest said the crew will eat at local restaurants rather than using catering services.
Clooney, in town for the filming, was recently spotted at a restaurant in Astoria with Bill Murray.
