EAST VILLAGE — East Village Radio, which shut down last year, will return to the airwaves this spring, followed by the launch of its new sister station, Brooklyn Radio, soon after, said general manager Peter Ferraro.

He did not give an exact date for the station’s relaunch, but said he had been busy refurbishing the station’s First Avenue studio with new equipment and finalizing the lineup, which will retain its “eclectic” mix of music and talk programming.

Ferraro said both stations would be part of the new Dash Radio network, an online radio platform created by Ferraro and Scott “DJ Skee” Kenney.

The East Village station will contain a mix of a new and old programming, he said, while the Williamsburg-based station will aim to reflect the borough as a whole.

East Village Radio ran for 11 years, hosted artists like Mark Ronson and The Smith’s Andy Rourke and attracted more than a million listeners worldwide before it closed in May 2014 because it could not afford to pay royalties to musicians.

Brooklyn Vegan, which first reported the relaunch in November, said the station would be back on air before the end of the year.

“We’re still working out the details,” Ferraro said. “There’s a lot to do to get the station back online.”
