HUNTERS POINT — Long Island City restaurant Alobar is cooking up an event that both parents and kids can enjoy.

The eatery is offering a "Kids and Kocktails" class Monday from 4 to 6 p.m., where parents will learn to mix up drinks while their kids get a cooking lesson from the restaurant's chef.

"We've been wanting to do both classes for the longest time," said owner Jeff Blath. "Then it just dawned on us, why don’t we do both at once?"

Chef Greg Profeta will lead the lesson for children ages 6 to 11, showing them how to make his "Loaded Potato Gnocchi." Kids won't be dealing directly with any heat or knives but will be able to get hands-on with the gnocchi dough.

"It's dough, which is a lot of fun for them," Blath said.

Meanwhile, parents will be at the bar learning from mixologist David Muhs, who will go over how to make one of Alobar's signature cocktails as well as a classic drink recipe. They'll also be able to enjoy their creations.

Kids will be given an apron and chef's hat to look the part, as well as a recipe card and diploma to take home.

A ticket, good for one adult and one child, costs $95. Space is limited, and participants must register beforehand by filling out a ticket form here and emailing it to events@alobarnyc.com.
