MIDTOWN — Yet another deep freeze is keeping New Yorkers shivering — though a "heat wave" is about to arrive.
An arctic blast from Canada will cause Thursday's temperatures to peak at just 20 degrees, with the low dipping down to 3 degrees, forecasters said.
Friday isn’t expected to be much better. The daytime high is expected to reach just 17 degrees, with temperatures falling to 6 degrees at night, according to the National Weather Service.
But the weekend should be warmer, forecasters said.
“We have a heat wave with highs around 30 on Saturday,” NWS spokesman Patrick Maloit said. “But the drawback is we have a chance of snow Saturday afternoon. There’s a tradeoff there.”
A nasty wintry mix of snow, then sleet, then rain is expected Saturday night into Sunday, dumping anywhere from 1 to 3 inches of snow, according to the National Weather Service.
