MANHATTAN — A New Jersey woman died eight days after she was struck by an FDNY ambulance responding to a call of an unconscious person in Penn Station, police said Thursday.
Susan Eddy, 69, had just stepped out from between two cars onto West 35th Street, near Sixth Avenue, about 5:40 p.m. on Jan. 23, when the westbound ambulance slammed into her, police said.
Eddy, of Callison, N.J., was treated for severe head and body injuries at Bellevue Hospital but died on Jan. 31, police said.
The ambulance driver remained on the scene after hitting Eddy and was not charged, police said.
It was not immediately clear what happened to the unconscious person in Penn Station.
FDNY officials did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
