WILLIAMSBURG — The FDNY finally brought a massive waterfront warehouse fire under control Thursday — five days after it started — and the preliminary investigation indicates that the cause was not suspicious, officials said.
No one was injured in the seven-alarm fire, which started about 6 a.m. Saturday morning at 5 North 11th St and continued to burn through the week, fueled by paper documents stored in the facility by several hundred companies, law firms and public agencies.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated, according to FDNY Commissioner Daniel Nigro.

But the fire didn't seem to be caused by arson, Nigro said, contrary to a plethora of conspiracy theories that have popped up in the neighborhood since Saturday.
"The investigation is in the early stages," he said, "and it'll be ongoing for quite some time."
Cold temperatures this week made work to calm the fire difficult, he added.
"Unless you're a polar bear, this kind of weather is difficult," he said. "The thing I don't miss from my days in uniform was being simultaneously cold and wet."
