NEW YORK CITY — Federal investigators are probing Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos’ sources of outside income, according to NBC New York.

Charges have yet to be filed, but U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara is investigating Skelos’ ties to the real estate industry, according to the television station.

The report comes a week after Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver was arrested on corruption charges.

Bharara told reporters to “stay tuned” during a news conference following Silver’s arrest.

Skelos (R-Nassau County) serves as counsel to the corporate and real estate law firm Ruskin Moscou Faltishek, according to the firm’s website. A spokeswoman for the firm was not immediately available for comment.

Skelos’ spokeswoman disputed the report in a statement.

“Last night's thinly-sourced report by WNBC is irresponsible, and does not meet the standards of serious journalism," said Skelos' Communications Director Kelly Cummings.

"Senator Skelos has not been contacted by anyone from the U.S. Attorney's Office. As such, we won't be commenting further."
