QUEENS — A 42-year-old woman was fatally struck by a Nassau County bus Thursday night in Jamaica when she was crossing the street, police said.

The woman, whose name has not been released, was struck by the Nassau Inter-County Express bus, as it was turning right onto Hillside Avenue from 165th Street, around 9:20 p.m., authorities said.

The victim, who suffered serious injuries to her body, was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

Police said that shortly before the accident, the bus stopped at a red light on northbound 165th Street.

When the light had turned green, the 59-year-old bus driver began turning right and hit the woman with the right rear portion of the bus, as she was crossing Hillside Avenue, the NYPD said.

No arrests were made and no summonses were issued as of Friday morning, police said. The bus stayed at the scene.

A spokesman for NICE, which operates buses between Long Island and Jamaica, said that police are investigating the accident.
