HUNTS POINT — Two unidentified suspects gunned down a street vendor near the Hunts Point Market early Thursday morning, police say.

Officers found Faustino Leal, 61, unresponsive and rushed him to Lincoln Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. on the corner of Halleck Street and Oak Point Avenue in the Bronx, just around the corner from the market, a sprawling wholesale foods warehouse.

Leal sold supplies and equipment, including gloves, safety garments, jackets and pants, out of his truck.

Police believe he may have been targeted by his assassins and are asking for help identifying the two men in the surveillance footage released. Call the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS or visit the website.
