LOWER EAST SIDE — A pair of thieves stole a taxi driver's cash after they asked him for change for a $100 bill, police said.

Police said the pair, a man and a woman, took the cab to the Rutgers Houses, located at 160 Madison St., on Dec. 21. When they arrived at 9:55 p.m. they asked for change, police said.

But when the driver pulled out $40, the man snatched the money from his hand and the thieves fled the vehicle, according to the NYPD.

Police released a video of the suspects and said the man is approximately 6-foot-1 and 180 pounds with black hair. He was last seen wearing a red jacket with a hood and dark jeans.

The woman has long straight hair and is approximately 5-foot-2, police said. She weighs about 120 pounds and was last seen wearing a blue bubble jacket, Nike sneakers and blue jeans, according to the NYPD.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
