MANHATTAN — A man followed a 22-year-old woman into her East Village apartment building and sexually assaulted her in a stairwell Sunday evening, police said.
Police released footage of the man taken as he walked into the East 6th Street apartment about 6 p.m., wearing a dark baseball cap, a black bubble jacket, jeans and black sneakers.
The woman was treated at Beth Israel hospital and was in stable condition, police said.
The suspect is about 25, 180 pounds and has short hair, police said.
