FINANCIAL DISTRICT — A Citigroup banker was found dead with his throat cut in the bathtub of his Greenwich Street apartment Tuesday, officials said.
Shawn Miller, 42, was pronounced dead inside his building at 120 Greenwich St., near Albany Street, about 3 p.m., Citigroup and NYPD officials said.
A source said police believe Miller's death was a suicide, though the city's medical examiner office has yet to determine the cause of death. Miller was found with a knife beneath him, according to the source.
"We are deeply saddened by this news and our thoughts are with Shawn's family at this time," a spokeswoman with Citi said.
Miller, who graduated from Syracuse University in 1995, has worked for Citi since 2004 and advised colleagues on the environmental impacts the bank's projects might have around the world, according to his LinkedIn profile.
He also worked for the World Bank Group's International Finance Corporation and wrote several papers about positive banking practices, according to his profile.
