CLIFTON — A gas station attendant was pistol whipped last month by a robber when he refused to hand over cash, police said.

The suspect approached the 60-year-old attendant working at the Gulf gas station at 425 Vanderbilt Ave., Staten Island, showed a gun and demanded money before 9 a.m. on Oct. 19, police said.

When the attendant refused, the suspect hit him in the face several times with the gun before running off, police said.

The attendant had pain and swelling from the attack but no serious injuries, police said.

Police described the suspect as a six-foot tall man last seen wearing a black and white striped hoodie and a black ski mask.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
