HARLEM — The man who brought you "Nubian Nut" and "Atomic Dog" — "Dr. Funkenstein" himself — George Clinton, will be in the neighborhood Tuesday to talk about his memoir, “Brothas Be, Yo Like George, Ain’t That Funkin’ Kinda Hard on You?”
In the book, the Parliament-Funkadelic frontman talks about growing up in New Jersey, lighting a hotel room on fire while smoking crack, being on acid when finding out that Martin Luther King Jr. had been shot and legal battles over who owns the rights to some of his hits, according to a Los Angeles Times review.
The Roots drummer, Questlove, will join Clinton at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture at 6:30 p.m. to talk about the history and legacy of funk.
Afterwards, Clinton will sign copies of his new book.
The free event is already overbooked, said New York Public Library spokeswoman Adenike Olanrewaju.
"All registered seats are released 15 to 30 minutes before start time, so we recommend that you arrive early," she said.
