LONG ISLAND CITY— Several people were decontaminated Tuesday after a suspicious powder was found in one of the city's Housing Authority central offices, the FDNY said.

An envelope with white powder was found on the fourth floor of the building, at 23-02 49th Ave., near Skillman Avenue, around 10:50 a.m. according to the FDNY and NYPD.

Initially eight people were isolated but they were later cleared by the FDNY. All were decontaminated on scene to make sure they did not have any of the substance on them. Nobody was injured, the FDNY said.

The Department of Environmental Protection was testing the white powder to determine what it was, but it didn't appear to be hazardous, the NYPD said.

The building was not evacuated.

NYCHA declined to comment.
