GREENWICH VILLAGE — Three young men dashed into the Sunglass Hut at 755 Broadway on Wednesday evening, grabbed handfuls of high-end designer sunglasses and fled, police said.

Police said the men grabbed at least 30 pairs of Tiffany, Bulgari and Giorgio Armani sunglasses from a display counter against the wall, just inside the door, at about 6 p.m. The haul added up to $17,000, police said.

A 20-year-old store employee told police the whole incident happened in less than a minute and that the men ran north up Broadway. She was alone in the store when the theft occurred, police said.

Police described the suspects as about 21 years old, 5-foot-8 and 170 pounds.

One was wearing a black sweatshirt or jacket, a black baseball cap, black jeans and white sneakers, police said. The second was also wearing a black baseball cap, but had gray sandals, a black sweater or vest and black sweatpants or jogging pants. The third was wearing black jeans, gray sneakers, and a black T-shirt or tank top, police said.

The Sunglass Hut opened at the location in August, according to a store employee who declined to be named. Police records show the shop was previously targeted by thieves on Sept. 3 and Sept. 10.
