BROOKLYN — Fellow commuters helped an injured man back onto the subway platform after he fell on the tracks of the elevated J train line Tuesday afternoon, cutting his head, an MTA spokeswoman said.

It is unclear how the unidentified man fell onto the rail bed at Cleveland Street about 1 p.m., but transit officials said that he was back on the platform moments later.

The man was not taken to the hospital, a fire department spokeswoman said.

No trains were delayed because of the incident, the MTA said.
