QUEENS — Capt. Frederick Grover, the former commanding officer of the 107th Precinct in Kew Gardens Hills, is taking over the 113th Precinct, which includes South Jamaica, St. Albans, Hollis, Springfield Gardens and South Ozone Park.

Grover will replace Deputy Inspector Miltiadis Marmara, who had been at the helm of the precinct for more than three years.

During his tenure, Marmara, who has been promoted to the Investigations Unit of Patrol Borough Queens South, oversaw double-digit drops in overall crime and shootings in the precinct, which has historically struggled with drugs, gun violence and gangs, police officials said.

Grover began his career at the NYPD in August 1998, when he was assigned to patrol duty in the 5th Precinct in Chinatown.

The new commander, who holds an Associate degree in Business Administration from Farmingdale State College, was promoted to sergeant in April 2005 and lieutenant in August 2008.

After he was promoted to captain in August 2011, Grover worked at the 113th Precinct for three months. "I'm familiar with the precinct and I'm looking forward to working there again," he said Thursday.

Grover has also served in Patrol Borough Queens South.
