QUEENS — Fifteen people were sickened Tuesday morning by a gas leak in the busy Austin Street shopping district in Forest Hills, the FDNY and National Grid said.

Two of the victims were taken to Forest Hills hospital, while the 13 others declined further medical attention after being evaluated at the scene, a spokeswoman for the FDNY said.

The department said it was called to the scene at 70-00 Austin St., near 69th Road, just before 11 a.m. for people who were dizzy from the smell of gas.

Karen Young, a spokeswoman for National Grid, which provides gas in the area, said the leak took place at a health club.

The gas has been temporarily turned off at the club until a broken boiler, which caused the leak, is fixed, Young said.
