BRONX — Former Obama aide Michael Blake won Tuesday's primary for the 79th Assembly District seat, while lawyer and Bronx Community Board 4 member Latoya Joyner won the primary in the 77th District, according to unofficial results from the city's Board of Elections.

Blake defeated opponents Lanita Jones, George Alvarez, Raul Rodriguez, Marsha Michael and Frederick Ricks in the primary for a seat that has been vacant since former Assemblyman Eric Stevenson was found guilty of federal corruption charges in January.

He took about 37 percent of the vote in the district that serves neighborhoods including Melrose and Morrisania with 99 percent of scanners reporting, according to the BOE.

Joyner defeated opponents Sherrise Palomino, Carlton Curry and Verdell Mack for the assembly seat that has been empty since New York City Councilwoman Vanessa Gibson left it for the City Council in December 2013.

She took about 70 percent of the vote in the district that serves neighborhoods including Highbridge and Mount Eden with 94 percent of scanners reporting, according to the BOE.
