BROOKLYN — An unidentified woman was found dead and covered in injuries outside a Bedford-Stuyvesant apartment building Wednesday morning, police said.

The woman, who police think was in her 30s or 40s, was found about 5:15 a.m. in front of 398 Tompkins Ave., near Hancock Street, according to the NYPD.

She had trauma to her head and back, police said. She was taken to Interfaith hospital and pronounced dead.

Investigators were still trying to identify her and figure out if her death involved criminality, an NYPD spokeswoman said.

The medical examiner's office will determine her cause of death.
