CONCOURSE — An off-duty NYPD officer on his way to work was attacked and had his gun stolen by a mob of men inside a Bronx deli Saturday morning, police said.

The officer had stopped inside High Life Deli and Grocery at 1215 Grand Concourse at 6 a.m. Saturday before heading to work at the 44th Precinct,  when at least six suspects surrounded and began attacking him in separate incidents, the NYPD said.

The officer identified himself to the suspects during the second scuffle with three of the men, and they pried the gun away from him before he managed to get it back, police said. The officer continued to fight with the suspects, losing the firearm again as he fell to the ground while struggling with a 32-year-old suspect, police said. At that point, a 15-year-old suspect picked up the gun and ran out of the store, police said.

A witness then called 911 as the officer fought with the remaining two suspects, and police arrived to arrest the two men, the NYPD said. The 15-year-old was picked up a short time later in possession of the officer's gun, police said.

The officer was transported to Bronx Lebanon Hospital with a swollen eye and abrasions to his arms, neck and head, police said.

Tyrone Selby, 32, Adrian Medina, 17, and the unidentified 15-year-old suspect face robbery and assault charges for attacking the officer, the NYPD said. Police are looking for three other suspects who separately attacked the officer at the deli.

Selby was charged with robbery, assaulting a police officer, gang assault, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of stolen property, resisting arrest and menacing, police said.

Medina was charged with robbery and criminal possession of marijuana, and the 15-year-old was charged with robbery, assault on a police officer, grand larceny, criminal possession of a weapon, and criminal possession of stolen property.

Police were still looking for the three other suspects Monday. The first suspect was seen wearing a black and red baseball hat, black T-shirt and sneakers, and red shorts, police said.

The second suspect was seen wearing a black baseball hat, white T-shirt, black shorts and sneakers. The third was wearing a black baseball hat with with stripes, black T-shirt, camouflage shorts, and white and black sneakers, police said.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
