MANHATTAN — A sister of the men accused of the deadly bombing attack at last year's Boston Marathon was arrested Wednesday for threatening a West Harlem woman with an explosive, police said.
"I have people who can go over there and put a bomb on you," Ailina Tsarnaev, 24, told a Harlem woman on Aug. 25, according to police.
Tsarnaev made the threat during an argument with the victim, who is the mother of Tsarnaev's boyfriend's children, police said.
Tsarnaev came into the city from her North Bergen, New Jersey, home on Wednesday and turned herself in to police on charges of aggravated harassment, police said. She was given a desk appearance ticket and released, according to the NYPD.
Her brothers, Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, are believed to have planted two homemade bombs near the finish line of the Boston Marathon on April 16, 2013 that killed three people and injured more than 170. Tamerlan was killed in a shootout with police after the bombing and Dzhokhar is awaiting trial in federal court.
