UPPER WEST SIDE — A jogger was shot in the back of the head with a BB gun in Central Park by a group of young people shouting anti-white epithets, according to police and published reports.

The 36-year-old woman had just finished with her run and about to leave the park near 60 Street and West Drive just after midnight on Aug. 18 when a BB pellet struck her in the back of her head, according to police sources.

The woman told police she turned around and saw a group of five young men and women laughing and shouting anti-white statements at her.

"What did you do?" the woman asked the group before the youngsters fled into the park.

The jogger suffered minor cuts and was brought to Roosevelt Hospital where she was treated and released, police sources said.

The NYPD Hate Crime Task Force is investigating the incident, police said.

Police said the suspects — three men and two women — are believed to be between 15 and 20 years old. They were all wearing dark clothing at the time of the incident.
