ST. GEORGE — Several cars were found with racist and offensive graffiti spray-painted on them over the weekend — just blocks from Saturday's civil rights march in memory of Eric Garner, police said.
About six cars were found with various curse words like "b---ch" and "f--k n---ers" spray painted on their car doors and windows around 2 a.m. on Sunday on Westervelt Avenue, between Corson and Layton avenues, police said.
The cars were parked nearly 10 blocks away from the route of Saturday's march in memory of Eric Garner, who died after NYPD officers put him in an apparent chokehold, authorities said.
The NYPD Hate Crime Task Force said they're investigating the crime as a potential bias incident because the things written on the cars can be racial in nature or "certain language young people use," a spokesman for the NYPD said.
Jose Medina, 51, who has lived on the block for six years, said neighbors have reported getting their cars broken into and their radios stolen, but this was the first time he's heard about graffiti.
"That shocked me," he said when he heard about the graffiti. "I didn't see that before."
