Woman Punched in the Head Before Elmhurst Rape Attempt, Police Say

ELMHURST — A man punched a woman in the back of the head and tried to rape her as she walked on a residential street earlier this month, according to police.

The suspect allegedly crept up on the 23-year-old woman before 5 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16 as she walked on Gleane Street, near Elmhurst Avenue, according to police.

He punched her in the back of her head, knocking her to the ground, police said.

The suspect groped her before fleeing, according to the NYPD.

He was last seen wearing plaid shorts and a T-shirt, according to surveillance video.
