Service Changes Will Hit 12 Subway Lines This Weekend

NEW YORK CITY — Twelve subway lines are slated for service changes this weekend as the MTA works on upgrades and repairs.

Service will be disrupted on the 1, 4, 5, 6, A, C, D, E, F, G, N, and R lines.

Here’s your weekend subway breakdown by line:

1 Line: From 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, Bronx-bound 1 trains will not run between 96th Street and Van Cortlandt Park-242nd Street due to repair work at 168th Street and 181st Street and the area of 125th Street. Free shuttle buses, the M3 bus, and the A and C trains will provide alternate service.

4 Line: From 11 p.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday, and from 11 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday, Brooklyn-bound 4 trains will run local from 125th Street to Grand Central-42nd Street due to cable work.

5 Line: From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, 5 trains will be suspended between Eastchester-Dyre Avenue and E. 180th Street. Free shuttle buses will operate between Eastchester-Dyre Avenue and E. 180th Street all weekend.

6 Line: Beginning at 12:01 a.m. Saturday until February of next year, 6 trains will skip Zerega Avenue and Buhre Avenue in both directions because of rehab work.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday, Brooklyn Bridge-bound 6 trains will run express from Pelham Bay Park to Parkchester because of station rehabilitation work at Buhre Avenue and Zerega Avenue.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday, Bronx-bound 6 trains will run express from Hunts Point Avenue to Parkchester.

From 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, 6 trains will run every 16 minutes between Third Avenue-138th Street and Pelham Bay Park. The last stop for some 6 trains headed toward Pelham Bay Park is Third Avenue-138th Street.

A Line: Until September, Far Rockaway/Lefferts Boulevard-bound A trains skip 88th Street, and Lefferts Boulevard-bound A trains skip 104th Street because of station work at 88th Street and 104th Street.

For service to 88th Street, take the A to Rockaway Boulevard and transfer to a Brooklyn-bound A. For service from 88th Street, take a Brooklyn-bound A to 80th Street and transfer to a Far Rockaway or Lefferts Boulevard-bound A.

For service to 104th Street, take the Lefferts Boulevard-bound A to Lefferts Boulevard and transfer to a Brooklyn-bound A. From 104th Street, take the Q112 bus or take the A to Rockaway Boulevard and transfer to a Lefferts Boulevard-bound A.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, Queens-bound A trains will be suspended between Ozone Park-Lefferts Boulevard and Rockaway Boulevard due to station rehabilitation work. Far Rockaway-Mott Avenue-bound A trains will skip 88th Street and Rockaway Boulevard. Free shuttle buses will operate between 80th Street and Lefferts Boulevard, stopping at 88th Street, Rockaway Boulevard, 104th Street, and 111th Street.

From 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday, Queens-bound A trains will run local from 168th Street to 59th Street-Columbus Circle.

C Line: From 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Manhattan-bound C trains will run express from Canal Street to 59th Street-Columbus Circle due to preparation for Hurricane Sandy work.

D Line: From 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday, Brooklyn-bound D trains will run local from 145th Street to 59th Street-Columbus Circle due to track maintenance.

E Line: From 12:30 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday, E train will run local in Queens due to signal work.

F Line: From 11:15 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, Brooklyn-bound F trains will be rerouted via the M line from Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Avenue to 47-50th Streets Rockefeller Center due to construction work on the Second Avenue subway.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, Queens-bound F trains will be rerouted via the A line from Jay Street-Metrotech to W. 4th-Washington Square due to preparation work for Hurricane Sandy work.

From 12:30 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday, F trains will run local in Queens due to signal work.

G Line: Until Sept. 2 at 5 a.m., G trains are suspended between Long Island City-Court Square and Nassau Avenue because of Hurricane Sandy-related work on the Greenpoint tube. Free shuttle buses will provide alternate service along two routes: via Manhattan Avenue between Nassau Avenue and Court Square, stopping at Greenpoint Avenue and 21st Street; and via McGuinness Boulevard between Lorimer Street and Court Square, stopping near G stations at Nassau Avenue, Greenpoint Avenue and 21st Street.

R Line: From 6:30 a.m. to midnight Saturday and Sunday, R trains will be extended to Jamaica-179th Street because of lead switch reconstruction.

EDITOR'S NOTE: The MTA mistakenly said that A trains would be suspended in both directions between 168th Street and Inwood-207th Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Trains will, in fact, be running at those stations.
