ROCKAWAY PARK — A man sexually assaulted a New York City lifeguard as she opened the beach for the day on Wednesday, according to officials.

Terrell Webb, 51, of St. Albans, approached the guard on Beach 116th Street just after 10 a.m. and rubbed his fingers against her genitals, officials said.

Webb was arrested at 1 p.m. and charged with third degree sex abuse and second-degree harassment. He was awaiting arraignment Thursday, according to the Queens District Attorney’s office.

If convicted, he faces up to three months in jail or a fine of up to $500, the DA’s office said.

The Parks Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The incident was first reported by A Walk in the Park, a Parks advocacy blog.
