MANHATTAN — A fire broke out in a TriBeCa apartment tower on Sunday night, sending six people to hospitals with minor injuries, the FDNY said.
The blaze was reported on the fifth floor of Independence Plaza North at 310 Greenwich St. near Jay Street about 8:40 p.m., the fire department said.
Sixty firefighters responded to the blaze in the 39-story mixed luxury and affordable housing building, bringing it under control by 9:30 p.m., the FDNY said.
Six people with minor injuries, including one firefighter, were sent to area hospitals, officials said. Another two people refused medical attention on the scene.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation, the FDNY said.
