BROOKLYN — An NYPD officer told a police academy candidate he would help her get hired if she agreed to have sex with him, prosecutors charged.

Delfin Lantigua, 34, an NYPD officer from the Brooklyn North Task Force, was indicted Wednesday on charges of bribe receiving, coercion and official misconduct, the Kings County District Attorney's office said.

According to investigators, Lantigua contacted the female applicant via Facebook on February 9 and the two met a month later at a Brooklyn Dunkin' Donuts. During that meeting, he allegedly asked the woman for multiple instances of sex and $1,000.  The woman, whose NYPD application was pending, agreed to meet Lantigua in a Brooklyn motel two days later, prosecutors said.

But the NYPD hopeful had contacted the police before meeting with him at the doughnut shop and she had taped the conversation, investigators said.

Internal Affairs Bureau officers arrested Lantigua when he arrived at the motel on March 13. He was immediately suspended from duty, a police spokesman said.

“This defendant shamefully violated his duty to uphold the law by demanding sex from a woman who simply wanted to become a police officer. He will now be prosecuted for his outrageous conduct," said District Attorney Kenneth Thompson.

Lantigua was arraigned Wednesday morning, according to the DA. His bail was set at $3,500.

If convicted, he faces up to seven years in prison. His lawyer was not immediately available for comment.
