QUEENS — A driver died and five relatives were injured after he suffered a "medical episode" and flipped his minivan onto its side, spraying debris and hurting a 73-year-old passerby Sunday afternoon, police said.
Anthony Boyd, 45, was driving his Kia Sedona west on 35th Avenue with his wife and some kids inside when it struck a curb and fire hydrant near 21st Street, flipping the vehicle onto its passenger's side about 4:45 p.m., the NYPD said.
Boyd was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and pronounced dead, police said. It was not clear what medical condition he suffered and the medical examiner is yet to determine his cause of death.
His family members, whose names and ages were not released, were taken to Elmhurst Hospital in stable condition, according to the NYPD.
A 73-year-old woman, whose name was not released, suffered a minor injury to her right leg and was taken to Mount Sinai in stable condition, police said.
Police have said they do not suspect any criminality in the crash.
