HELL'S KITCHEN — A burglar snuck into Hell's Kitchen's Obao Restaurant early Saturday morning and swiped payroll checks and $1,400 in cash from a safe in the manager's office, police said.

According to police, the man entered the Southeast Asian eatery at 647 Ninth Ave. at about 5 a.m. and took the cash and checks.

Police described the suspect as a 30- to 40-year-old man who is about 5 foot 10 and weighs about 175 pounds. He was last seen wearing a baseball hat and sneakers, police said.

Obao serves a mix of Vietnamese and Thai specialties and has two other locations, in Midtown East and the Financial District.

The restaurant could not immediately be reached for comment.
