CONCOURSE — This really is farm to table.

The 161st Street Business Improvement District plans to open an outdoor bistro for residents and customers of the GROWNYC farmers market in the Bronx every Tuesday this summer starting July 1.

Attendees can buy food such as eggplant rolls, mini pizzas, juices and fruit snacks from the market and then enjoy them in the 10 designer chairs and five cafe-style tables that the BID will set up by the Lorelei Fountain in Joyce Kilmer Park from noon until 2 p.m.

The seating is free and available on a first-come basis.

Free WiFi will be available in the cafe as well.

161st Street BID Executive Director Cary Goodman said he hopes this will help inspire restaurants and parks in the borough to start having outdoor food service,  since he believes this helps create a positive atmosphere in neighborhoods.

"We're hoping to show that this part of the borough is ripe for just some sort of casual dining experience," he said. "And then who knows? Maybe we will attract a vendor like Shake Shack."
