UPPER WEST SIDE — A woman was struck by a minivan while crossing Amsterdam Avenue at 91st Street Thursday morning, fire officials said.

The woman had just stepped into the crosswalk about 9:20 a.m. when she was hit by a red Dodge minivan driving west on 91st street, according to witnesses and fire officials.

"A man was holding her shins with a cloth, there was blood on it," said Vincent Edwards, 49, who works at a funeral home near the intersection.

The driver, who stopped and remained on the scene, was shaken up, witnesses said.

"The guy looked like he was in shock, he didn't say anything," Edwards said. "[The driver] looked like he was about to pass out."

Both the driver and the pedestrian were taken to St. Luke's Hospital, fire officials said. Their conditions were not clear.

Police did not immediately have any information about the incident.
