QUEENS — A man was arrested Wednesday for breaking into a Bay Terrace home and then beating and robbing the elderly tenants inside, police said.

Christopher Ramirez, 24, of Corona, and another man pretended to be maintenance workers when they knocked on the door of an 85-year-old woman and 86-year-old man at 212th Street and 15th Avenue about 2:30 p.m. on April 23, police said.

Ramirez and his accomplice then then forced their way into the home and began beating the couple, bruising the woman in the face and body and leaving the man with head injuries, police said.

The victims, neither of whose names were released, were treated at New York Hospital Queens, police said.

It was not clear what Ramirez and his accomplice stole from the home.

Investigators pulled Ramirez's print from the scene and one of the victims identified him in a line-up, an NYPD spokesman said.

Ramirez was arrested Wednesday on charges of assault, robbery and burglary, police said.

He had been arrested once before, but that record was sealed and an NYPD spokesman couldn't provide more information.

Ramirez's accomplice remained at large Thursday morning, police said.
