FINANCIAL DISTRICT — A quick-eats restaurant dedicated to the "craft of grilled and roasted chicken" recently opened its doors in the Financial District.
Fields Good Chicken, at 101 Maiden Lane, uses locally sourced, antibiotic-free roasted, grilled or pulled chicken in its variety of sandwiches, salads and rice bowls. The eatery also sells whole roasted chickens.
Chef and owner Field Falling, a competitive cyclist who previously worked in finance, said he opened the spot to offer a quick, healthy option for people on the go.
“While traveling cross-country in pursuit of a professional cycling career, my goal was to eat quickly and healthfully so I could get back on my bike and compete,” Field said in an emailed statement. “I soon discovered that eating well felt just as difficult as biking 130 miles a day; there just weren’t good healthy options out there.”
Salad options, priced at $10.25, include the Greek Beak, with herb-grilled chicken on a bed of arugula, with pickled onions, feta, tomatoes and cucumber. Rice-based bowls, including the Bueno Bowl — roasted chicken, guacamole, pico de gallo, black-eyed peas, corn and maple chipotle sauce — are only served with brown rice and cost $9.75.
You can also get a whole bird, which is brined and marinated for hours before being roasted. A whole chicken with two small sides, like shaved sesame veggies or rosemary potatoes, is $22.75, or $27.25 for large sides.
Fields Chicken, at 101 Maiden Lane, is open Monday to Saturday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
