QUEENS — A 15-year-old girl was found shot to death inside a Jamaica home  Wednesday night, police said.

Alexis Anderson of Canarsie was found with a gunshot wound to her head inside a house on 106th Road, near 180th Street, about 11:45 p.m., the NYPD said.

The teen was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The Medical Examiner's Office, which will determine the cause of death, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

A witness told the police that the girl committed suicide but no gun was recovered at the scene, sources said.

Sources said Anderson did not live at the home, which they described as a destination for people to come and use drugs.

Neighbors said that they are not sure who lives in the house because so many people come and go from it.

"People are going in and out," said one man, who lives two doors down and did not want his name used. He said he has lived on the block for 15 years and is currently looking for a new apartment, because he does not feel safe.

He said that since he moved to the area he had heard gunshots in the street several times. Earlier this week someone broke his car window. "I have three kids," he said. "It's not a good place to raise them."

Police said Thursday afternoon that they had not made any arrests and that their investigation is ongoing.
