Man Punched and Knocked to Ground in Midtown, Police Say

MANHATTAN — A 38-year-old man was seriously hurt when he was punched in the face and knocked to the sidewalk in Midtown early Wednesday, police said.

The victim was at 33rd Street and Fifth Avenue about 1 a.m. when he got into an argument with another man, police said. The dispute ended when the attacker punched the victim, knocking him to the ground, where he hit his head on the sidewalk, police said.

The victim was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he was in critical condition Wednesday afternoon.

The NYPD was looking for the suspect, who was last seen wearing a long-sleeve dress shirt, black slacks and a black shoulder bag, police said.
