MANHATTAN — Two people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries after a fire broke out in the subway at Eighth Avenue and 14th Street Monday evening, a Fire Department spokesman said.

The blazed happened about 6:50 p.m. and was put out by 7:50 p.m., according to the FDNY.

Trains on the A line were running local between 59th Street and Canal Street in both directions because of the fire, according to the MTA website.

It wasn't initially clear where the fire started in the subway.
