Woman Dies in Bed-Stuy Apartment Fire, NYPD Says

BROOKLYN — A woman died Monday night when her Bed-Stuy apartment caught fire, police said.

Beverly Douglas, 65, was in her first-floor home at 605 Gates Ave., near Throop Avenue, about 10 p.m. when the fire began, the NYPD said.

Firefighters found her unconscious when they extinguished the blaze and she was pronounced dead when she arrived at Woodhull hospital, police said.

No other injuries were reported in the fire, the NYPD said.
