MANHATTAN — A 64-year-old man died after a truck struck him in an East Harlem parking lot during what investigators believe to be an accident, an NYPD spokesman said.

Anthony Githere was in the parking lot across from 224 East 125th St., near Second Avenue, when an Isuzu box truck tried to park about 4:40 p.m. Monday, but struck him instead, according to a police spokesman.

Githere, who had been staying at the Manhattan Psychiatric Center on Randall's Island, suffered severe body trauma and was taken to Harlem Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the NYPD said.

The Isuzu's driver did not see Githere, an NYPD spokesman said. The driver, whose name was not released, was not charged, the spokesman added.

Police said their investigation is ongoing.
