MIDTOWN — About 250 people had to be evacuated from Midtown's Belvedere Hotel after a transformer burst into flames in the basement Thursday morning, the FDNY said.

Flames broke out inside the basement of the luxury hotel at 319 West 48th St. about 9 a.m., according to the FDNY.

Officials said there were no immediate reports of injuries at the hotel, where rooms cost upwards of $170 a night.

Approximately 60 firefighters responded to the fire and brought it under control just before 10 a.m., an FDNY spokeswoman said.
