MANHATTAN — An off-duty policewoman was arrested after she shoved her girlfriend through the glass window of a Canal Street furniture store, giving the woman a large gash on her back, officials said.
Tamara Beauzile, 43, an NYPD sergeant, was arguing with Samantha Douglas, 38, outside Canal Furniture, at 402 Broadway, about 4:40 a.m. Sunday when both started physically attacking one another and Beauzile shoved Douglas into the glass, cutting her face and back, court documents and store staff said.
Both Beauzile and Douglas were treated for minor injuries and charged with assault, criminal mischief and harassment, a police spokeswoman said. Douglas's cuts required 15 stitches, records show.
Beauzile and Douglas had been partying together before they started arguing about directions home, according to the New York Post.
In the fight, Douglas grabbed the off-duty policewoman by the throat, hit her and cut up her face, according to the criminal complaint against her.
A worker at the furniture store, David Babi, said Monday that the shattered window hasn't affected business but would cost between $2,000 and $3,000 to replace.
Beauzile had a temporary order of protection issued against her and released, court records showed.
