Man Arrested for Grabbing Woman in Front of Jane Hotel, Police Say

MEATPACKING DISTRICT — A man was caught pinching a 31-year-old woman's butt in front of The Jane Hotel last week, police said.

The victim was talking to her boyfriend outside the 113 Jane St. hotel about 1:25 a.m. April 3 when a man, 35, came up behind her and grabbed her butt, police said.

The man was charged with forcible touching, police said.

The man's attorney did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Update: Charges against the man were dismissed as of June 2015.

Other notable incidents in the 6th Precinct include:

► A shoplifter at the Union Square Whole Foods punched a security guard who caught him red-handed, leaving the guard with a black eye, police said.

The security guard saw Higashida Yuki, 29, stealing about 8 a.m. on April 3, and confronted him, police said.

The 48-year-old guard was able to get the items back, but when he tried to stop Yuki from leaving the store, Yuki punched him in the right eye, police said.

Yuki was charged with assault, police said.

Yuki's attorney could not immediately be reached for comment.
