UPPER WEST SIDE — A former Fordham University student was found dead in a bathroom at the Lincoln Center campus Monday, school officials wrote in an email.

A student discovered the unidentified 28-year-old Manhattan man hanging by a rope in the third floor bathroom about 9:30 a.m. in the Leon Lowenstein Building at 113 West 60th St. near Columbus Avenue, police and school officials said. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene.

"It is in deep sorrow that Fordham University announces the death of a Fordham alumnus was found in the restroom in Lowenstein Center early on Monday morning, April 7," according to an email to students from the university's security office.

"Detectives from the NYPD's 20th Precinct and the New York City Medical Examiner are investigating the incident, but do not believe the deceased is a victim of foul play."

Police said their investigation is ongoing.
