MARINERS HARBOR — A Chinese food deliveryman was fatally shot in the head after being robbed on a dead-end Staten Island street, police said.

Richard Salvia, 50, from Turnersville, NJ, was found by police in front of a Grandview Avenue home with a gunshot wound to his head around 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

Salvia was making a delivery on the street when he was robbed and fatally shot, Police Commissioner Bill Bratton said on Wednesday afternoon. Bratton said the shooting does not appear to be be connected to any other crimes.

"There’s no pattern over in Staten Island," Bratton said. "This one seems to have been unfortunately an isolated incident involving him. The robbery of delivery personnel across the city, unfortunately we have so many of them."

Salvia was taken to Richmond University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead on arrival, police said.

Police hadn't made any arrests for the shooting as of Wednesday morning.
