ASTORIA — Police continue to search for a man suspected of attempting to rape a 22-year-old woman last month and released photos Saturday of a possible suspect.

According to the NYPD, the man approached the woman from behind as she was walking on 30th Avenue in Astoria, just before 3:30 a.m. on February 23. Police said the suspect pushed the victim to the ground and attempted to rape her, but she fought back.

The suspect, who is estimated to be in his early 30's, 145 pounds, and 5-foot-7, fled the scene. The woman suffered cuts and scratches, but refused medical attention, police said.

On Saturday, investigators released additional photos of the suspect, who is shown wearing a jacket with a light color on the shoulders and a darker-colored torso.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
