NEW YORK CITY — The body of a dad with a young daughter was found inside a garbage bag in the Rockaways Monday morning after his worried family tracked his cellphone to the beach and made the grisly discovery, police said.

Quynton Ross, 30, who family members said was a photographer, was discovered on Beach 40th Street near the Boardwalk in Edgemere just before 10 a.m. and pronounced dead at the scene, according to sources and the NYPD.

Sources said the man's family became worried after he left the house at 8 a.m. Sunday and did not return.

That night, relatives used software to track his cellphone to a dune on Beach 40th Street, but were unable to find Ross, who has a 4-year-old daughter, because it was dark, sources said.

The next morning, they returned to the scene and found his phone. Nearby, they also found a bag filled with bloody clothes and called police, the sources added.

When investigators arrived, they found another bag containing the victim's body.

The Medical Examiner's office has not yet determined the cause of death.
