BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — A man robbed and tried to rape a woman inside a Bed-Stuy building in the middle of the afternoon on Monday, police said.

The man approached the 22-year-old woman from behind inside the building, near Myrtle and Tompkins avenues, around 1:50 p.m. on Monday. He grabbed her neck and said he had a gun, according to the NYPD.

After pushing the woman onto the steps inside the building's vestibule, the man ripped off her shirt and bra, pulled down her pants and underwear and touched her breasts, police said.

The woman started screaming and the man ran off, taking the woman's cellphone and $60, police said.

The woman was not seriously hurt, police said.

The NYPD released a surveillance photo of the alleged attacker, who is described as in his 30s and was last seen wearing dark clothes and black sneakers, holding a pair of gloves in his hand.
