MORRISANIA — A South Bronx bodega erupted in flames Thursday afternoon — drawing more than 100 firefighters to battle the blaze, officials said.

The Pamela Deli & Grocery at the corner of Tinton Avenue and East 163rd Street caught fire about 3:30 p.m., according to the FDNY.

"The flames were coming out of the top of the building," neighbor Maria Cruz said.

She said that the owner has been at the store for three decades and is "always friendly, always help people who are hungry," Cruz said.

Reps from the deli could not immediately be reached.

Approximately 140 firefighters from 33 units were on the scene battling the blaze.

There were no initial reports of injuries, a fire department spokesman said.
